NEW: Photography Challenge
New for 2019, the Photography Challenge looks to showcase and develop skills in catching the perfect shot in both still and live challenges.
Great photography of our venues, people and food capture and promote the services and experience we offer across our bar and catering outlets – all contributing the overall student experience.
Our challenge consists of:
- Shots from your university
- An onsite still life shoot
- An onsite live shoot
The competition’s offsite element must be completed by 31 December 2018 which for the shortlisted competitors will then follow on to the onsite shoots taking place at the Competitions event at the University of Warwick, on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th March.
The competition is open to all employees of member institutions.
About the Competition
Shots from your university
This shoot is to be completed at your institution and requires you to select your best five shots to upload to the entry website. The theme for these shots is, the Student Experience. You may use any style you wish and apply any filters and edit the shots before uploading. The shots may be taken on any equipment.
Our judges will then shortlist up to eight competitors to compete at the Competitions event.
All entrants will be contacted by 31st January 2019 to confirm if you have been shortlisted or not.
For the shortlisted finalists, there will be two challenges to undertake onsite at the Competitions event. These will be completed using your own equipment, and once again you may use filters and edit the images you take.
The first of the onsite shoots will be live action, where you will capture the essence of a live cooking competition. You will select five shots to enter before midnight on Tuesday 26th March 2019.
The second onsite shoot will be still life, where you will photograph static items that have been created for the Competition. This could be from the Salon Culinaire or one of our other food or drink based competitions. Again you will use your own equipment and may use filters and edit the images before submitting your five best shots. A time limit will apply to take and submit your images.
Our judges will not mark against set criteria, instead they will look at the creativity, skill and holistic value and power of the photos. Written and verbal feedback will be given after the competition.
Note that on submitting the images to our website to be entered into the competition you are agreeing that TUCO may use any of your images in the magazine and other promotional materials.
We are now closed for entries.
